Who Should Not Receive Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) Therapy

There are number of conditions and situations which may prevent patients from being eligible to have Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) treatment. These include patients with:

  • Deep vein thrombosis (blood clot within a blood vessel)
  • Heart failure
  • Heart valve disease
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • An inability of the blood to coagulate (clot)
  • Pacemakers
  • Phlebitis (inflammation of a vein)
  • Pregnancy
  • Uncontrolled arrhythmia (altered heart rhythm)
